The Simple Handicap - NFL Sports Betting Podcast

Feb 23, 2021

This was A TON of fun. I was able to spend an hour talking with the Sport Management Masters Class at Baldwin Wallace University. These are some of the smartest students in the country for their field, and the questions they had on the sports gambling industry in the United States made for a terrific discussion.

Topics include:

  • Where the country currently stands for legal betting...
  • How does betting change how teams interact with fans?
  • What is the "integrity" issue with betting?
  • Why is problem gaming not more in the forefront?
  • Amazon - the big elephant in the betting room...
  • The role of Nike/Under Armour in sports betting
  • Vulnerabilities of giants - Fanduel/DraftKings
  • Should sportsbooks educate their customers?
  • Sportsbook companies are marketers - not bookmakers
  • Circa's focus on customer service
  • The Pinnacle non-affiliate model
  • Market/consumer saturation
  • Where is the US industry in 5-10 years?

A big thank you to all of the students in the class and Dr. Sheptak and Dr. Campisi for the invitation to speak.
